System 2000 vs Universal Pad Washer

Any review or comparison between the two?

I have a rotary and I think it's time to get a pad washer. Other than the advantage of cleaning pads using DA/ROB with the UPW, any other discerning advantage of getting the new UPW? Which is better for a rotary user?

I was getting ready to ask the same question!!!


The Universal Pad Washer looks like it just uses a Grit Guard with a spring loaded bucket. The cleaner for the center of the pad looks interesting.

The System 2000 uses a set of gears to clean the pad - like the Duospur.

Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of System 2000 owners here and the UPW is pretty new. I will send Rick at ADS a message sometime about these washers.

That's what I was thinking. The UPW should be great for those without a rotary but S2000, with all the wheels/spurs, should be better for the pads, regardless foam or wool.

Just my 2 cents logic.

My senses tells me that the S2000 would be more gentle on the pads with the rotating wheels/spurs whereas the UPW's cleaning abilities relies on friction with the grits, that's not very good in the long run, right?

I'm trying to choose something that could maintain my pads in good working condition as long as possible since buffing pads here in my country are quite costly.

I know they are both excellent for what they're suppose to do but I only need one so, help me choose guys.

I have the system 2000 pad washer, It took me a long time to bring myself to spend that much money for a plastic cleaning gagjet in a 5 gallon bucket. Once I did, I would say it's one of the best tools I have ever purchased. I can go around a vehicle now using just one pad. Cleaning the pads is a breeze now after every panel, so no more loading up on the pads or holding it down against a towel. I haven't tried the Universal pad washer so I cant comment on it. As for anyone who uses a rotary buffer on a regular basis, I highly recommend this!

Are you just running the pad over the water or what are you using in the bucket to get the pad cleaned?

I have a question for Tom Weed.

Do you use the system 2000 directly for the PC? If not, I guess I could just put the pad on my rotary and use it that way.

Hey RVDT4ME,

Not sure the system 2000 washer will work too well with the PC, it needs to have the spinning motion of the rotary I think to make the washer work. I use the rotary and when I am using a PC I just keep a rotary plugged in next to it. It's truely a time saver!
