New here so I have some basic questions. In the past I have used one of those rubber drying towels but all I hear about here is micofiber towels, is the micofiber better?

Re: Micofiber vs rubber syn chamos
The MF towels are great! They can hold more water than chamos also they are easier on the clear coat and are less prone to leaving scratches and swirls when drying your car.

Re: Micofiber vs rubber syn chamos
A lot of people, including myself, use the Absorber (rubber chamois) to get the bulk of the water, then follow at the same time with a micro fiber.
Another popular method (if the car is waxed) is to follow the first rinse with a full flow (just let the water run out of the hose with out a sprayer of any kind) rinse. Most of the water will just sheet off of the car with this method, then dry the remainder with a microfiber or Absorber.

Re: Micofiber vs rubber syn chamos
I have both. In my opinion the Absorber is much better than Meg's water magnet. I normally use both to dry a car. The absorber to get most of the water and the water magnet to get the small drops that I missed.

Re: Micofiber vs rubber syn chamos
For me anyway, I've found my microfiber towels (the 12" x 12" ones) work like a chamois...they don't do well drying a car body unless they have been dampened & wrung out. So I usually use the soft flow water technique followed by a dampened & wrung out mf to dry the car. I also have an Absorber*, but I mainly use it for inside the mirrors, trim edges, etc where a small flap of the Absorber will fit inside and draw out 90% or beter of the water hidden inside.Don
