Glass is always a real pain for me, especially in cold mornings where it gets up to 70 during the daytime. Last night I was driving home and couldn't see anything due to the massive smuge marks that came out of nowhere. Nobody touches the interior glass at all.

What should I get to clean the glass? I can't find the nxt glass cleaner around here otherwise I'd buy it. Anybody know of any agressive cleaners? Or any other meguiars products I can use?

Have you tried the basic window cleaners at Target? Like Windex? We'd love to have you use NXT Glass Cleaner but sometimes,

You can also call Customer Care at 1-800-347-5700 and they might be able to help you find a local store that carries NXT Glass Cleaner as it is a premium glass cleaner.

Also remember when cleaning glass with any glass cleaner to have a few microfibers handy, it's best to use one to make the initial cleaning but then switch to a clean, dry microfiber polishing cloth for the final wipe.

The reason for this is the first cloth will have the majority of the residue and junk you removed and if you keep using it, it's too easy for this residue to merely transfer back to the glass and cause you frustration trying to remove it, so have 2-3 clean, dry microfiber polishing cloths on hand for cleaning windows.

      Re: Glass

NXT glass cleaner is great. If you cannot find it, I'd suggest Coastal Glass Cleaner in the aerosol can, I have had decent luck with that also.
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

There is always the possibility of ordering online, autodetailingsolutions.com is a good source for Meguiars products.

Mike is right, you're going to want two or three microfibers to effectively clean glass - especially interior glass. If you are unable to order NXT Glass Cleaner online I suggest picking up some Stoner's Invisible Glass. It's a wonderful product and is sold at Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, etc.

Good thing you added "but sometimes". That'll save explaining later when this comes in:

              Re: Glass

We find one of the most common problems people have with glass cleaning is using too much product. When you have a large amount of dead bugs on the windshield it obviously helps to use more product to loosen things up, but once you've gotten the heavy stuff off try this:

Fold a terry cloth towel in half, then half again. Lightly spray the glass with your cleaner of choice and use the towel to clean an area. Now flip the towel to a dry side and vigorously go over the window again. This will remove any streaking you may have left behind and you should end up with very clear glass.

Great advise Mike.... I think people mistakenly use too much product in a lot of cases, not just glass cleaner. FWIW, I prefer to use a good terry towel when it comes to cleaning glass.

                  Thanks everyone.

I picked up some Eagle One Glass Cleaner at pep boys. Unfortunatley while I was detailing my entire car, it started to sprinkle so I went inside. I'll have to test it later

Did you get the Eagle-One 20/20 glass cleaner? Ive had a bottle of that stuff for along time now and it seems to do pretty good. Ive since switched to the D-line glass cleaner so the 20/20 went to the closet.

                      Re: Glass

I have found the ultimate way to clean glass, the only problem is reach some small tight windows(like the quarter windows on audis) and the bottom of some rear windows, which can still be cleaned traditionally.

Buy one of those mini squeegees at walmart or something, they are like $3-5, 5-7 inches long and usually found in the cleaning supplies section.

Spray the glass down liberally with cleaner, take a clean residue free microfiber, and spread/agitate the cleaner; this will usually absorb some or most of the cleaner, so go ahead and spray some more.

Then take your squeegee, and squeegee off the glass cleaner. As a said before, some interior panels are hard to go too, but for the most part this leaves the glass far cleaner and streak free than traditional methods. You want to be careful with defroster grids, move gently along the lines(non direction specific as some cars have vert. lines while most have horizontal lines).

I have found that using this method has mostly eliminated that fog that you get sometimes when there is a big temperature differential(temp inside of the glass is higher/lower than temp outside) that are usually in the directions you have wiped/cleaned the glass.

Yep, got the 20/20. Just tried it and it made my glass very nice. Good product. Hopefully I'll be able to get some NXT glass cleaner though.

                          Re: Glass

My all time favorite glass cleaner is the aerosol glass cleaner from the Detailer Line. Man that stuff is great. Mike is definitely right about using a few MF's. I used to try and use one and keep folding it but I had "smugged, foggy" looking residue after the second window. Now I spray a little product on the MFA and wipe down the glass, them follow up with the clean, dry one. Great results every time.
