  • Meguiar's classes?

This is for the Meguiar's staff who monitor this forum,

I live about only an hour from the Meguiar's headquarters in Irvine California. I plan on signing up in the near future to attend a class but I have some questions regarding the classes?

First, how long is the duration of the class? Does the class go for a whole day?

Does the meguiar's staff cover every bit of detailing or does the Meguiar's staff cover different topics per class?

When I say cover every part of detailing I mean the staff will train you how to completely wash a car all the way down to applying the LSP which should take about a full day. Or assuming the meguiar's staff only cover certain parts of detailing topics per class. For example, one class might cover claying your car, while on the contrary, attending another class on another day will cover polishing. Hopefully I am not confusing anybody here.

The reason I want to know is because I really want to attend class that focuses on POLISHING. I already know how to wash, clay, and apply the LSP by hand but my weakness is polishing. I have a Porter Cable but I want to become proficient at it as I need more training. Ive seen videos but It would help me alot more if a Meguiar's staff will teach me/the whole class in person. I believe polishing is a crucial step in detailing.

Thanks Mike Phillips and everyone in the Meguiar's team.

    Re: Meguiar's classes?

Our classes essentially focus on just what you're looking for - removing defects from paint, primarily fine swirls and scratches. We do discuss proper technique for all the other things you mentioned, but when it comes to the hands on portion of a Saturday Clinic it's all about removing defects from paint, both by hand and with the G110.

The Saturday Clinics start around 8:00AM and finish up somewhere between 2:00 and 3:00PM. As a suggestion, since you live so close, you should look into attending a Saturday Clinic to learn the basics and then follow up with a Thursday Night Open Garage to perhaps get a bit more in depth with some one-on-one training and experience. Thursday nights are not as structured as Saturdays and there is no classroom session - everything is hands on in the garage from 5:30PM until 10:00 or even later.

Oh, and we'll feed you on Thursday night too!
