  • Hard to take care of?

Ok; did a search and didn't find anything on this... or my specific question

Anyway, would this paint be hard to maintain and take care of? What can I use and not use? Doesn't look like completely flat black, maybe a matte clear coat? idk... anyway it looks sick!

The car is cool looking. Is it something you are going to work on? The pictures look like they are from some kind of car show. Who owns it? They should be able to tell you what the painting process was and you should go from there.

It is going to be just about impossible to wax that paint without adding gloss to it.

I remember seeing that Lexus at the LA Autoshow last year.

While there is a lot of interest in "flat" and "matte" finishes there is obviously a big issue with maintaining these types of finish. We had someone call in to the Customer Care Center last week asking how to "fix" the issue caused by our Deep Crystal Step 2 Polish. When asked what the problem was the called said it had made his paint shiny. We thought that an odd complaint since, well, DC2 is supposed to make paint shiny! Of course, that was not the intent of the caller since he had a matte finish on his Honda Civic.

He did report that DC1 did an outstanding job on his finish - admittedly a very low cost DIY paint job - but we talked about what it means to remove a scratch, swirl, etc. At this time Meguiar's paint care products are all designed with a single ultimate goal in mind: to make paint shine.

Would DC1 be a good choice on a higher quality finish, like on this Lexus? That's hard to say, but if it brings up a shine when doing a test spot you'll have a tough time dulling it down to match the rest of the car again.
