  • Quik Detailer

Other than price, what is the difference between "Quik Detailer"
(A3332) and "Ultimate Quik Detailer" (G14422)?

I'm particularly concerned about removing bird droppings, with
    scratching the finish, between washings.

    TIA for your help,
    Marbrye

    Re: Quik Detailer

UQD also contains some polymers to help sheet rain water off the paint, and who knows, maybe a touch of protection.

Both can be used for removing bird droppings, etc, though I tend to use UQD after washes, and QD for removing stuff like that.

      Re: Quik Detailer

Both are in a category in the car wax industry called,

      "Mist & Wipe" products.

UQD is a "Top Shelf" quick detailer, it costs more to make and it creates a nicer looking, slicker, smoother, more clear finish on paint. It also creates a hydrophobic surface, that is water fears the coating and what to get away from it.

Quik Detailer is a product we introduced in 1981 and was for the most part, the first product of it's kind in the industry. Like all Meguiar's products the formula is updated when new technology is available so it's alway the best product in it's class compared to similar products.

Quik Detailer is more for cleaning and claying and UQD is more of a "Date Night" product or "Show Preparation" type product as it's going to create a nicer finished look than our other normal quick detailers.

My personal method of using these products is to use the Quik Detailer for claying and wiping a dusty car clean and removing bird droppings. I save the more costly UQD for adding the finishing touches after a fresh wax job and for removing light dust in-between normal washing and waxing on a well kept and freshly waxed finish.

UQD is not the right product for a paint job that's not in excellent condition, regularly maintained and regularly waxed with some type wax or paint sealant.

When removing bird droppings you want to use plenty of product so that the surface is very well lubricated. Because UQD cost more than QD, QD is a better choice because it will be lest costly to use more of it to safely remove bird droppings.

Hope that helps to some level...

QD is great general purpose quick detailer

UQD is our top shelf, date night quick detailer for showcasing your rolling work of art

          Re: Quik Detailer

It is good to let any wax set up before applying more liquids to the surface....

Really waiting till the next day is the best, no real need to apply right after.

IF the bird dropping is dry, then the best thing to do is to return it to a liquid forum by flushing it off with water.

If no free flowing water is available then you can saturate it with Quik Detailer, even maybe use a piece of cloth to hold the Quik Detailer onto the bird dropping while it soaks in and softens it and then wipe it off the surface by placing a microfiber on top of the bird dropping and snatching the bird dropping off the paint, not wiping it off the paint.

              Make sense?

Here's another way only if there is not water available then use Quik Detailer. If the bird dropping is dry or drying and a major concern to you as you don't want to have the paint etched or scratched you could always purchase a bottle of water from a store for around a buck. (If no other source of water is around).

Take a wash rag and saturate it with water or your car wash solution.

Place the wet wash rag on top of the dried bug splatter and allow it to sit for a few minutes. A variation of this would be to use warm/hot water.

To speed up the process, apply some gentle pressure while drinking a cold soft drink and if need be, hum or whistle a little diddy like the theme song from Gilligan's Island.
