  • Playstation 3 vs. PlastX?

Just thought i would ask you guys for advice as reassurance..

My missus 'accidentally' vacuumed my beloved PS3 along with her normal cleaning routines...

However i was unpleasantly surprised to find the whole paint job on the casing has received the "Auto Car Wash" brush bristle dilemma.. full of fine scratches and swirl marks.

I saw a post with a Ford Think and i can confirm it had the same defects.

I merely just want to make sure if its ok to use PlastX to doctor my PS3?

Try a test spot! If it works, go for it!

I've been meaning to try it on mine. It's a bit swirled after it came back from getting fixed. Looking forward to hear how it works.

            Re: Playstation 3 vs. PlastX?

            Hello again.

Now i have been using PlastX on my PS3 for about 2-3 weeks now, periodically just polishing the main body to remove the 'fine scratches' from my car.

Verdict: I was hoping i would be more satisfied with it tbh. It has given it a bit of a shinier look, but in direct light, its still very swirly. I have been doing this all by elbow grease and Meguiars app pad & terry towels.

Is there anything else i can do to improve this? i run my fingers across the surface and the scratches are certainly not deep but visible.

Im hoping if ScratchX might help too? Or a rotary buffer for plastic? Any further suggestions would be great. Cheers

Yea, I was wondering the same thing, can we use Plastx or scratchx on a PS3. Mine is brand new, but my friend got that alcohol sunscreen spray all over it. I tried removing it, but scratched it up...Any suggestions.

If not PlastX, or ScratchX, then 105 maybe?

                    Re: Playstation 3 vs. PlastX?

Cheers guys, i probably plan on using ScratchX first. I would rather first apply on the bottom part just as a test spot and hopefully it could produce slightly better results as PlastX.

Will surely keep you guys posted. Ive taken some before shots as proof and will show another photo after application. I guess i am very pedantic with my PS3..

Careful with any lettering on the top.

Also have you thought of giving it a coat of wax that masks swirls? Like NXT?

Lol...only on MOL would people be worried about cosmetic swirls on the finish of a console system! I love it!

Re: Playstation 3 vs. PlastX? Before PIC

Hi Vormund. Can you please give me the full product name of 'NXT'?
I believe the lettering is quite strong, so it should be ok.

Here is a before pic of the top of the ps3 console. This is after about 2 weeks of application & elbow grease. As you can see, its still shocking under direct light.

Using Megs foam app pad & Megs Supershine Terry Towel. I apply PlastX using gentle circular motions, wait 5 mins then wipe off doing a straight action method.

I just dont know what else i can do it to improve it. These are very fine scratches.
