as per the link about, what is a paint cleanser? Is that something like Scratchx? any further info on consumer line products would help?
and is a paint cleanser done before or after claying the car?
Consumer line products that would be considered paint cleaners are Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (DC1) and ScratchX. There are also some All-In-One (AIO) consumer line products that do a great job of cleaning/polishing/protecting all in one step such as Cleaner Wax (A12) and ColorX.
Claying should be done prior to applying any cleaners, polishes or waxes/sealants.
Clay first, that is remove the contaminants sitting on top of the surface, this gets them out of the way so that you can then go after the defects in the surface with a paint cleaner, compound or cleaner/polish.
Make sense?
The only time you clean the paint first is when you're working on a severely oxidized single stage paint. This keeps you from loading up your clay bar with dead paint.
