Keep in mind, anything strong enough to EAT INTO a clear coat finish is strong enough to get past any coating of wax or paint sealant by any company.

Find the root cause of the problem and tackle that as your first line of defense as all a micron thin layer of wax or a paint sealant can hope to do is slow down really corrosive elements in the rain or whatever lands on the paint.

Out here in the desert where we live if you don't get the city water off your car's finish before it dries it will leave both Type I and Type II water spots.

Certainly makes you want to filter it before making a picture of Lipton Tea for the adults or Kool-Aid for the kids...

Fix the damage then apply M21 to one half and any other product to the other half and see if you can find something that prevents the damage better and/or even 100% and then apply my Sig Line.

Mike, I was just having a little fun with you above...trust me I'm well aware that if something can etch into a clear coat finish it is strong enough to get past any coating of wax or paint sealant manufactured by any company.

About the only thing I can do is what I've done for the past 35 years...wash/wax/protect the painted surface and use those products I feel will do the best job protecting my toys and vehicles. And I feel Meguiars is about the best on the market...and you know how I feel about M21

I hear there's no acid rain problems in Lake Havasu

            Might be a practical option?

Here you on the blue tarp, that was a staple for all the years I didn't have a garage to protect the boat from the elements...

Always kind of hurt a little to pull that blue tarp over the boat...

                    Re: Acid Rain Etching...

I have the exact same problem with my car. I used Ultimate Compound and Swirl X and none of the acid etch spots were removed. I was applying this with a yellow Meguiars DA buffer with a yellow Buffing pad (not a cutting pad). I even went to the store and picked up some "Fine Cut Cleaner #M0216" because I wasn't getting anywhere. They didn't have anything stronger. I used a fare amount of pressure and went over and over the same areas without getting out the spots. I ended up just moving on and getting the car looking great (other then all those darn water spots!). I'm up for any ideas.
