You have some extra steps in there that are not needed.
So... if it were me:

Now you say, Meguiars Rubbing Compound and Meguiars Polishing Compound... you mean Deep Crystal Cleaner and Deep Crystal Polish, correct?

The Cleaner wax is not needed if you are using a cleaner and polish. Also between Deep Crystal Wax and NXT, hands down NXT is the way to go!

If you want, you can also clay the car with Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit after you wash and dry it. This will remove the bonded surface contaminants just before the paint cleaning.

I agree... claying will take the look of your vehicle to the next level... search for 'clay' on MOL and you will get tons of info!
