Re: Newbie needs help selecting product

ok so i went to a few places last night and couldnt find the ultimate compound so i thought i would try the M105. I did it by hand and only focused on a 12 x 12 square.

I didnt put much time into it, about 15 minutes. I am planning on doing the rest this weekend.

this is how it turned out. it took those sand scratches out! I am excited about that.

    before picture sand sratches

here is the square with the tape removed. i dont have much lighting in my garage so you have to look for the straight line

Like i said i only did it by hand for a quick try. i know it will be a better solution once i really spend some time on it.

Here are the products i picked up. going to use the ultra cut on the sand scratch areas only. only one not pictures is the cleaner that Mike suggested which i bought too.

Thanks everyone for all your help its greatly appreciated.

will do a before and after shot of the car once i am done

    thanks

Re: Newbie needs help selecting product

      Thanks for the follow-up!

It is hard to see because of lighting and the fact that the paint is a light color but we can definitely see a huge difference in clarity and color in our Test Spot.

When you get a chance to really dedicated some time to this project and also get to apply all of the product you should see some amazing results while at the same time preserving the original paint on this rare VW.

      Nice work!

Re: Newbie needs help selecting product

Well guys almost a month later and i am officially done with the car

Again I used the products Mike suggested. Needless to say I am extremely happy how it turned out

I cannot believe its the same car let alone a 44 year old paint job.

Also had to put on my full restored Porsche wheels on it too. all i am waiting for is the side molding and its ready for the summer!

                    Recap

BIG THANK YOU for everyone's help with suggestions.
It took a lot of elbow grease for doing it all by hand but I cannot be happier.

Extraordinary! It came out really nice. It can be harder to see dramatic before and after differences in lighter colors but even though this is a light color there's a huge difference in gloss and clarity of color.
