How can I get year(s)-old tree sap off of paint+vinyl roof?Thanks.

for removing it off the paint try clay and use a lot of quik detailer to aid in lubrication
and for the sap on the Vinyl try APC or the M39/M40 comboNick

It's going to take more than clay or APC. Mineral spirits of ISO alcohol and let the product soak in. You may have to use plastic razor blades. http://www.topoftheline.com/plastic-razor-blades.html They do work but be careful. NO blades on the vinyl roof.
After you get the sap off you will have a major polishing job.
