  • Plastic Motorcycle Fairings

I recently came in to the ownings of yet another high-gloss black motorcycle, and the owners before me were somewhat idiots in the way of taking care of it cosmetically.
More or less, what I'm wondering is what products should I use for the plastic fairings? The plastics have tons of spiderwebs and swirls in them from... Only God knows what.
In my garage I currently have:
    ScratchX
    PlastX
NXT Generation Tech Wax (paste kind)
    Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax

Also Turtle Wax's Ice Synthetic liquid polish

Any ideas or thoughts would be awesome. If you want pictures... I can do my best.

A great go to product would be PlastX, if more oomph is needed, try M105 and finish with M205 if needed.

You could try a cleaner wax such as the A Line Cleaner wax or ColorX if the plastic is sensitive.

      Is this painted plastic?

I would say it is... Don't know what kind of paint and clear, it's just whatever comes as factory default on super sport bikes (or any sport bike really). The only metal piece is the gas tank.

          Re: Plastic Motorcycle Fairings

Point being if it is clear plastic, like a windscreen, then PlastX would be good, since yo uare working on plastic.

But if it is painted/cleared, you are actually working on paint. So you would use the regular Meguiars paint care products.

The old ScratchX is ok, but you would make your life easier with the new products, like ScratchX 2.0 or Ultimate Compound.

Alright thank you, the Ultimate Compound works so much better than the original ScratchX.

Here's a recent detail where I used M205 on the fairings. If you only have access to OTC Megs products, use the least aggressive first, assess, and continue. In my case, the most was two passes of M205 by hand and in some cases, one pass worked.
