  • Overwhelmed

I've used Meguiar's or some time, but I'm trying to do a full on sprucing up of my car and I'm just wondering if my plan of attack is correct.

I have a 2006 GTO in a color called Spice Red Metalic. I have the typical holograms / light swirls. I can't take a decent picture to save my live.....

At anyrate this is what I had planned for my nice 3-day weekend befiore our first cruise of the season. I will be using a PC 7424.

    1. Wash to strip away all that is on there
    2. Clay bar
    3. #9 Swirl remover
    4. #3 Machine polish
    5. #21 Sealant
    6. #26 Hi-tech wax

    Any thoughts, advice, improvements?

Well, what is your skill level?
Do you understand what you need to do to remove defects?
I agree with you plan as long as you know what your doing.

      Re: Overwhelmed

      I would try this:

Wash: Gold Class Car Wash SHampoo and Conditioner
      Clay: Smooth Surface Clay Kit
M09 ( you could always give SwirlX a try too)
M03 Machine Glaze will work great
      M21
      M26

          Re: Overwhelmed

it may not be neccesary to use M105, use the least aggressive product to get the job done. Therefore, other products such as M09 like you mentioned may get the job done. Just do not go straight to M105

            Re: Overwhelmed

Dabbled with this the last 16 years. I've used orbitals, though it's been a little while Many moons ago I detailed for a short time at a used car lot.

Last year at this time with this car I clayed, Scratch X, "Step 2" polished, and NXT 2.0 it. It turned out fine. I'm just looking for the "ideal" product selection from Meguiars this go around.

I did want to start out with the least aggressive compound as I just have the hologram thing going on from too many drive through car washes this late winter. I know... I was forced to get her out of storage due to my winter beater taking a dump. Salt lick of a car or some more elbow grease in the spring.......

            Thanks for the responses.
