  • SwirlX with orbital waxer?

I have one of those cheap orbital waxers with the microfiber bonnet on it. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to use SwirlX with it?

    Quick answer: No!

The cheap orbital waxers are only good for applying and removing waxes.

You'll get better results applying SwirlX by hand. You'll get substantially better results yet if you invest in a G110 dual action polisher.
Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

SwirlX by hand would be the way to go if you dont have a D.A like akimel mentioned. The orbital buffer dosent have the power to remove swirls and scratches. working by hand will yield better results when trying to remove swirls, but a D.A would be even better.

Like Al said, inexpensive orbital polishers are for the most part "Wax Spreaders", that is the only thing they're really good for is to spread out a layer of wax or a paint sealant.

If you're using a product like SwirlX or Ultimate Compound or ScratchX and your goal is to remove swirls the in reality what you're trying to do is to remove paint and inexpensive orbital buffers are not powerful enough to effectively remove paint, at least to the point that the average person is willing to invest the time and energy to use a tool like one of these to try to remove swirls.

When it comes to modern clear coat paints, Traditional Orbital Buffers, Polishers, etc., are simply not powerful enough to remove swirls because they are not powerful enough to remove paint.

They were popular in the old day for single stage paints because generally speaking, traditional single stage paints are soft enough that an orbital buffer/polisher with the right compound could grind off the dead, oxidized paint.

        Not so with clear coats.

If you want to remove swirls out of a clear coat finish, in most cases it will be faster to work by hand with Ultimate Compound than it will be to use a Traditional Orbital Buffer.

The link below goes to multiple threads on the topic of exert, which are threads that discuss how and why your hand is more effective at removing defects than a wax spreader.
