Removing Chrome Tape

Need some opinions on removing this chrome (mylar?) tape. I've got a 2005 GMC pickup that has 1/2" strips on the grill.

It was on there when I bought it, and I like the look, but after 40k it's not looking so good.

What do you guys think would be the best way to remove what's left?

What's underneath, plastic or metal? If it's just stuck on can't you put some heat on it to loosen up the adhesive. But i'm wondering how it's gonna look once you have it all removed. Pics would help tremendously.

Was just getting the pics, you beat me to it.

It's textured plastic underneath, I've scraped some off before carefully with a razor blade, but there's got to be something faster. Would one of those pinstripe erasers that go into a drill be faster? Heat up the plastic too much?

Yeah, try heating it and do you have any plastic blades? I'd try heat and a plastic razorblade before using the metal blade. If the plastic blade doesn't cut it than go back to the metal blade. As you know, be extremely careful. Adhesive and residue can be removed, but not gouges.

How does the plastic look underneath anyways? Is it gonna finish out nice?
