  • What product to use to keep rims clean?

Is there such a product that i can put on my rims that will make it easier to remove the brake dust? I have a 2008 Lexus IS F and with the 6-piston Brembo brakes in the front...it generates massive amounts of brake dust just after 1 or 2 days of driving...not spirited driving either!

Should i just clay the rims and apply some NXT wax to it? What would you guys use? or should i just not bother and deal with it? haha

Applying NXT will help prevent the brake dust from adhering as fast, but the dust will still show up.

There is something that Three Fitty said a while back about the IS 350's getting free brake pad replacements if they are under 30,000 miles to switch to a lower dust pad. I'll wait for him to chime in, or you should shoot him a PM if he doesn't reply

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

You can clay your rims and apply NXT 2.0 if you want to. Just make sure when you clean your wheels when you wash your car you use car wash (with a separate bucket and brushes/mitts dedicated for wheels and then don't use those products on the paint) instead of a degreaser or wheel cleaner - otherwise you'll strip the NXT right off and you'll have to re-wax them every week.

i just want to make it easier to clean...i don't know about pad replacements on a IS350 but i know the brakes on a 350 and F model are different. I'm sure there's no such thing as a low dust brake set because usually when you mix in performance, you have to have dust....i doubt there's a pad that's for a 6-piston caliper that is "low dust"

Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner and Multi Piece hasn't failed me yet....

Waxing will Definately help you, but the wheel cleaners strips wax, so if you use the wheel cleaner, wax them when done.

I did read where 3Fitty got brakes replaced but can't remember what the details were.....

I agree, waxing the rims will help. Not a permanent solution. I also remember 3fitty talking about the replacement brake pads.

I use quick wheel detailer whenever I qd my vehicles. Seems to keep the brake dust to a minimum.
