  • How to get off paint transfer

I have a friend who had someone side swipe them and it left blue paint on their white car. It was strong enough to put a decent dent in the car.

I tried using UC with a foam pad by hand and then M105. I tried claying it too. I made no progress with any of those. I saw a little blue paint on my pad but not much, and there wasn't any visible removal of paint form the car.

    Any ideas?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

I would have gone with the M105, and that should have done the job.
    Do you have any machines?
Repeat the Process over and over.
I do not know I am stumped.

Usually you use something aggressive by hand with a piece of terry cloth to abrade off the unwanted paint transfer and then re-polish the area you worked with something less aggressive to remove any scouring or scuffing you instilled in the process of removing the paint transfer.

Removing the paint transfer is best done by hand.

Polishing the underlying paint after removing the paint transfer is best done by machine just because the human hand can never outperform the machine when it comes to creating a beautiful finish. That said you can also do the follow-up polishing by hand.

I'll Give it a try with a terry cloth then! The foam pad wasn't working too well.

Do you have any M04 Heavy Cut Cleaner? That's what I've always used to remove paint transfer.

It works well for this for the same reason it works well to remove stains and water spots off glass and that's because it uses a large, chunky diminishing abrasive.

M105 will work but it doesn't have the chunky size diminishing abrasive like M04

Unfortunately I don't. Would M83 be better to use the M105 or UC since it doesn't use SMAT?

No. Think chunky. Something with some BITE to bite off the transferred paint.

M83 and the rest of the 80's series uses micro-diminishing abrasives.

M01, M04, M44, M49 all use chunky, large macro-diminishing abrasives and all work pretty well for removing transferred paint. They will also scour the underlying paint when applied by hand but that's why I already addressed this and posted the remedy.
