  • Alternatives to HD & ASD to dress wheel wells?

    Hey everybody,

I did a quick search (possibly not exhaustive) but couldn't find anything. I'm looking for alternatives to dress my wheel wells (as opposed to using All Season Dressing or Hyper Dressing).

One can't get the 'Detailer Line' products up in Canada off the shelves and getting them shipped (including brokerage fee) costs an arm and a leg - - I know first hand...bought $243 worth of stuff and it cost me $92 for brokerage.

I have APC+, Super Degreaser, and a plethora of rags and small/large brushes, so cleaning them isn't an issue.

I'm merely looking for something that one can spray on there (and walk away maybe?) that'll dress the wheel wells up nice.

    For Example:
Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Coating (aerosol)
    Hot Shine Tire Foam
Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray

I have #40 & high endurance tire gel, but I anticipate I'd go through them like crazy if I use them to dress the wheel wells.

    Any thoughts?

A very popular wheel well dressing by all is our Mirror Glaze M40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner Conditioner. Looks like you may already have it ?

I think if you try this product, you will be more than pleased

BTW - As you may or may not know, it is also available in gallons

I use M40 all the time on my wheel wells. Although may not be as durable or longer lasting as ASD but the wheel wells look new when I'm done!

I have some of the old S-Dressing, I believe it's the older version of Solvent Based Dressing, if you can get your hands on some of the new Solvent Based Dressing, it may work good for you......

I like Hot Shine Tire Spray for some wheelwells, others I use M40 or Exterior Trim Coating.

I like to use Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Coating (aerosol) for wheel wells. I've used NXT Insane Shine tire spray (aerosol) as well, although it tends to be shinier than the Hot Shine. Just my two cents.

              Yeah, give M40 a try.

I also really like GC Trim Detailer.

You can also use tire shine, but it's a little expensive.

I understand what You are saying about being able to get the detailer line. I use and like the Water based dressing diluted 1:1.

I end up using Water Based Dressing or All Season Dressing, but if you can't get those I'd get a gallon of Armor-All and a spray bottle. Cheap and will do the same thing. I personally wouldn't use something as expensive as M40 on the wheel wells.

If you have a Costco in Canada see if they have a spray can product called "No Touch"
It's for tires but I find that it works well in wheelwells. I spray it on fairly heavy and ten minutes later I wipe it off with a throw away rag. It cleans the surface and leaves a nice shiny protectant behind. I even use it under the hood.

Funny this should come up. I have been wondering about wheel well dressing. I've been hesitant to buy a gallon of HyperDressing just to dress the wheel wells. (Yes, I know it has multiple uses, but at the moment I have plenty of products for those other uses.) I've seen Stoner TrimShine recommended for the wheel wells and intend to give the local NAPA store a call to see if they have it. It's ostensibly spray on and walk away. I'm sure that M40 would do a great job, but I think I have to agree with Tyler about it being an expensive product for the task. I just want something that will darken the wells and make them temporarily disappear. Maybe I'm talking myself into HyperDressing after all.

LOL, just get some! I finally did and I end up using it for all sorts of things that I had other products for. Work good outside and inside. Really liked it in the interior of the car actually...

Plus, diluted 4:1, it's gonna last.
