I just stumbled across a brand new page about the new Ford Taurus where Ford is putting it up against the competition.

Some of this stuff you just have to see to believe, but one video I know will make every person here cringe, wiggle, and scream in their chairs: Taurus vs Lexus LS 460 PAINT COMPARISON.

1 Word...OUCH!!! That is like driving in the winter here. They use what they laughingly call "sand" on the roads, it's actually pea gravel. Come springtime the auto glass shops do a booming business.

I find it funny how Ford is comparing their Taurus to the highest quality luxury cars....

If you read the 3rd party professional reviews of the new Taurus just about the only negative thing you will find (if you can call it that) is that the car is facing the issue of being too good for the class it is priced for. In reality, based on features the car is competitive with vehicles costing $20,000+ more.

No. Just quality paint that doesn't go to heck in a hand bag in no time flat.

That was a pretty cool video and I like the way the taurus looks too.

Lexus paint is horrible when it comes to rocks. My dad's IS350 is only a couple years old and it has TONS of rock chips. He doesn't drive insanely fast either and living in California, there aren't anywhere as many rocks on the roads as there would be in other states.

Very cool to see how well the taurus paint stood up to the rocks. Is this the car that will have a glass fleck rather than metallic?

One thing Ive been liking lately is the quality of cars that have been so greatly priced. The sad thing is no matter how nice the Ford is people would still rather have the Lexus because of the name. Oh, and man I wish I had Taner Foust's job!

Paint? What good is a "quality" paint job if the car itself is always in the shop? I'd rather have the "poorer quality" paint job if the car runs with minimal maintenance and doesn't need transmissions, radiators, head gaskets, etc.

Incidentally, who in their right mind would drive a Lexus in those conditions when one spends that kind of money. That is a marketing exaggeration. OK, buy the Taurus as the winter car, keep the Lexus as the "show" car.

I owned a Sable and a Taurus. Both were junk, and for what I paid in repairs and cost of both vehicles, I could be driving a NEW Lexus today. Shame on me. I'll take the Lexus any day.
