I called around to all the other stores and searched, no one has dc1 any more. I've read dc1 is being phased out. However, a true substitute for dc1 seems to be a big question across many internet boards that remains unanswered in a clear, concise way. I've read pages of information where people have the same question, including a thread here where someone specifically mentioned this situation with regards to dropping dc1 and all the confusion. People go into abrasives and the new products like scratchx, swirlx, colorx but at the same time it seems that none of these products exactly match dc1, some people say you can you swirlx/scratchx1.0 as a replacement for dc1, some say it can mess up your paint due to the stronger amt of abrasives than dc1 has. However, at the same time there seems to be no product that has mainly chemical cleaners with a hint of small abrasives, similar to dc1, nor does it seem any clear consensus has been reached as to the true replacement of dc1. Can anyone answer this.

Re: DC1 - is there any true replacement
I'd say SwirlX is a very close replacement. This is a non-abrasive product.
Car Guys are constantly asking how to best remove swirl marks/spider webs/holograms to restore crystal clear reflections and have a flawless, show-car shine. SwirlX Swirl Remover effortlessly removes swirl marks while improving color and clarity. SwirlX can be applied by hand or with our DA Polisher, and is a non-abrasive formula that gently smoothes away micro-fine swirl marks so you can have a flawless finish on all paints.Jim

DC1 is still available at my local stores. I snapped up a bottle a little while ago and it has started to see some serious use in the past few days.James - 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais

SwirlX could do everything the DC1 does, plus more. I think it's time to move on. I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but I achieve better results in less time using SwirlX than DC1 and DC2 combined, on the same car.
With the SMAT, you are able to adjust the correction ability of SwirlX by altering the pressure while working the product into the paint.

Re: DC1 - is there any true replacement
well one thing i certainly want to avoid is this:
There are proper techniques even when working by hand. Participate in discussion or start a new thread with your question.
my paint is also in really good condition, only has very light scratches from leaves and stuff like that, swirlX seems too abrasive, they say you should start with the least abrasive and only move up if that dosen't fix your problem, well how are you supposed to do that if the least abrasive you can find is SwirlX, and you can end up with something like this poor guy, doesnt seem like this could happen with DC1...
I ordered some DC1 from meguiars direct, planning on using that followed by some #7 show car glaze...

SwirlX is non-abrasve according to Meguiar's ad copy which I posted previously.SwirlX Swirl Remover effortlessly removes swirl marks while improving color and clarity. Yet, DC1 is a decent paint cleanser so enjoy.
I'd highly recommend you use new foam or microfiber applicators and new plush microfiber toweling to remove the product. Everything that touches your paint, potentially has the ability to produce swirls.Jim
