  • m21 Sealant over m07 glaze?

So I'm wondering whether I can either put m21 over m07 OR do the oreo thing: m21, then m07, then another m21 application?

I know that some guys do that with Danase Wet Glaze and their favourite sealant. DWG is a synthetic glaze that has sealant properties but m07 is not.

Is it only m26 that is good over m07? Would m16 go over well?

    Thanks guys

You can put any sealant or wax on top of M07.

Hope you don't mind me asking what the purpose of the "oreo thing" is.

My understanding of the "oreo" effect.

1st layer of sealant helps to fill some swirls. Now this is only viable if the sealant offers some filling properties, right.

Layer of DWG, further fills swirls and has great polish ability. DWG has some sealant properties as well but is not as durable as a pure sealant.

2nd layer of sealant helps seal in the DWG effects.

This has been discussed on other forums but no real durability test has been done, just the methods of some members.
To me it does not seem worth the effort to have the 1st layer of sealant, as DWG has some sealant properties. It makes more sense to have 2 layers of sealant after DWG.

Now m07 is a pure polish with no sealant properties so the oreo effect may benefit it more. I would start with 2 layers of m21 (for coverage), then m07, then 2 more layers of m21.

Of course this is all in preparation for the Northern Alberta Winter. The truck I will be putting the effort into is my work truck, so durability is a huge factor. When I may see 3 inches of mud and Ice frozen on my truck, I want to make sure when I pressure wash it clean that I have some semblance protection and maybe that extra shine, that other trucks will not have. In the Oil Patch, clean equipment is a job requirement. If mine shines longer than the competition, it's a huge bonus.

I will be doing some test panels, hoping to get some durability testing done. So on my days off I will be a busy guy

I was going to bring this up this Issue, I live in eastern Canada and putting on a winter coat for your daily driver is often brought up in conversations.
What does everybody do for their daily driver when it comes to a winter coat and could this be the opportunity for a new product.

Rather than the "oreo" method, if you're looking for max shine and durability you would be better served with the following: make sure the paint is fully prepped, including claying and paint cleaning as needed, then apply a thin coat of M07 for maximum gloss and follow with two thin coats of M21 Synthetic Sealant. Allow each coat of M21 to fully dry before removal, and if at all possible wait 24 hours between applications of M21. That isn't absolutely necessary, though, so if you need to do this all in one day then so be it.
