  • Detailing a 2006 Red Caddy

I have been given the task of detailing a Fire engine red 2006 Cadiliac CTS and I want to know which products would be better to use on the Red paint.
A little back ground info on the paint care over the past few years, it is washed weekly (gold class soap) and has been waxed about once a year (I know, that’s horrible, but it’s not my car and this is why it needs a detail job).
I have the following products on hand, just curious which would be best for this car
    *ScratchX 2.0
    *Ultimate Compound
    *Clay Kit
    *System Polish
    *Gold Class wax
    *NXT generation wax

the only way to determine what products to use, is to do a test spot with first
Cleaner/Wax (if you have that from the Smooth Surface Claykit), if that doesnt satisfy you, use ScratchX 2.0, if not satisfied - use Ultimate Compound... and then top it off with Gold Class or NXT, both looks great :]

I generally agree with Ganesa, but you probably don't have enough of the cleaner wax on hand for the whole car. So, if you are trying to do this with ONLY what you have on hand, do your test with the ScratchX and then if you are not satisfied step up to the Ultimate Compound....

I willing to get what I need. I just want to use what will look the best.

I have nothing helpful to say, but I absolutely love the Red CTSes. That is one hot car

ScratchX 2.0 and UC are pretty aggressive...

Anyway you can get your hands on some SwirlX? It's not as aggressive.

However, UC by hand is not as aggressive as by PC/DA et al.

Do a test spot with ScratchX 2.0 first if that is all you have then move up if needed. Do a couple of passes at least (I do three) then go from there. Do a test spot in a 12X12 area as you may (or not) know.

Your pushing it with the cleaner wax in the clay kit as it's pretty mild and you may use up the little bottle quickly.....

I would try to get some SwirlX if you can or not use as much elbow grease with the UC. GM paints can be softer than some but I haven't worked on newer cars.....
