  • LT Dilution Question

Background: I've been using my Last Touch occasionally diluted 1:1 for some simple paint issues here and there (bird poop, fresh water spots, dust, etc...) as well as for clay lube. As I stated though, I haven't used it a ton because I wash frequently anyway and my car is just a daily driver. A well-kept daily driver, but still a daily driver!

Anyway, I'm doing a lot more driving now (I commute to school) and I have even less free time so I figure I'm probably going to be using LT more to remove dust and other stuff between washes. The roads that I use to get to school seem to have a little more dust than I'm used to. First question is:

Questions: How is LT at removing dust after a few days since the past wash? Am I going to create swirls by doing this with a good microfiber? When I say dust, I mean just that - a moderate amount of surface dust but not caked-on or other heavy dirt. My last question is as I said I've been using it 1:1 and had no problem but I haven't been heavily using it so it's hard to tell. Should I just use undiluted formula now that I'm going to be using it more? Thanks.

    Re: LT Dilution Question

Well, where the line between light dust and moderate dust is will be hard to say. May have to sacrifice a test panel and see how it goes for a few times?

And yeah, you can certainly lower the dilution to get more lubrication. I am pretty sure the 1:1 is just for claying really.

When used at full strength, Last Touch has the most luricity of all the Meguiars Quik Detailers.

I agree. I usually use Last Touch full strength for a quik detail. Never had a issue with swirling on light to moderate dust.

Sounds good to me. I just tried it. I just started college and I also work full-time so I literally have 1 day per week sometimes where there's a possibility of me being able to wash my car. Then, if something comes up or I (God forbid) want to rest that day, I can't do it. However, I take good care of my car so often when I wash it, it's not really "dirty," it's more or less covered in what I'd call "road dust." In the past, since I had more time on my hands and I didn't want to create any swirls (which I still don't), I would just wash it. But since I have less time, I think I might start actually putting my Last Touch to more use.

It's funny too because QDing takes me a while also but it's not really the amount of time that's the factor: It's the fact that I can only wash it in the late afternoon when the sun is on the other side of my house. I just so happen to barely be available at that time now...

Do you guys have any other QDing tips or stories?

You could try Mark Kleis' method on how to wash rinseless using LT + Megs Wash Mitt:
