  • Tiny pin head sized white spots on a black VW

Hey everyone, was hoping I'd get some help, I have a 6month old Black VW, and its my first new car, all my other were hand me down and I never really washed or waxed, so I'm a newbie to taking care of the paint. I waxed it recently, and noticed today after some rain for the past few days, I noticed pin head sized white spots that will not come off, I tried a microfiber, nothing, quick detailer nothing, paint cleaner nothing. Anyone have any idea what they could be? Here is a link to a bad picture:

    Thanks.

tiny white specks on a recently waxed black car

I have some really small (pin head sized white spots) on my 6 month old Jetta, I had waxed it last week, and was wondering what they are, some will not come off at all, even with QD and a microfiber. Any tips to remove them would be greatly appreciated, they are all over the car.
    Thanks

try a little dupont gun and equipment cleaner on a clean microfiber , use a gentle touch if it is what i believe this should do the trick.

Thanks roger, any idea where I can get the gun and equipment cleaner? A gun store? Would some isopropoyl alcohol work as well?

Do you know if the car was clayed?

Claying removes embedded particles in the paint. Claying is easy to do and makes your paint smooth as glass.....

It is quite possible that you've got some very tiny stone chips in the hood and the wax used dried white in the chips, which is going to be very noticeable against a black background. Tedious though it may be, if the number of chips isn't too great you can always go at them one by one with some quick detail spray and a soft toothbrush. Failing that, a little wax and grease remover that you can pick up at most autoparts stores, even those with a limited touch up paint section, should remove it. Of course, that will remove any wax surrounding the chip as well so another wax application will be in order. But try something like our M26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax as it dries clear and shouldn't cause this issue for you in the future.

Been using Meguiar's products since 1970. Never knew that.

didn't think of that, our Neon has those little stone chips BAD in the front and I use M26 solely (if not the whole car at least the front) on it. Claying does a good job cleaning them out though.....

Thanks Michael, I'll give the M26 a shot.
