  • Looking to design new packages for 2010 season

We have been professionally detailing over 200 cars a year for the past five years in our shop. As each year goes on our packages get a little more "detailed" and priced accordingly.

Until now our packages were basically as follows:

    "Pit Stop" package
    -Vac
    -Steam clean all carpet/upholstery/doorpanels
    -Interior wipedown all vinyl
-clean streak free all windows inside and out

    "Deluxe" Package
    Everything in pit stop, plus:
    -Scotchgard and Deodorize all fabric
    -Hand wash
    -Detail Tires/chrome if needed too
    -Paste Waxing by hand

Each package is a half day to complete for us.

We want to design a new package that takes the entire day for one car/truck

We were thinking of adding power buffing, deoxidizing, higher end wax like Carnuba or something much better and anything else you guys can think of that one or two people can complete in one 8 hour day.

All suggestions welcome including which meguiars products to use!
Also looking for suggestions on what to call the package something better than deluxe!

    Thanks

Re: Looking to design new packages for 2010 season

Hi, there are many things that could be added to the services that you currently offer. Some examples would include:

    - Wheel wells cleaning and conditioning
    - Detail, polish and wax wheels
    - Engine clean
    - Clay bar whole car before waxing
    - Paint polishing
    - Specific treatment for leather
    - ...

There are many Meguiar's products that can help you in each of these processes. Maybe you should look at the Detailer line of products.

I was wondering how can your "Pit Stop" and "Deluxe" packages take the same time to accomplish?

It's not so much that we take the same length of time, as we ask for that amount of time for each package. Every car is different and of course some take longer than others to do depending on level of soiling and what sort of interior is involved. Some cars are done in less than 2 hours, others can take 5 and that doesnt even include the wax!

Hmm, great suggestions, I have been talking to my wife about some of these things.

-Wheel well cleaning, we generally powerwash under there, I will look into what products can get things the powerwasher cant get out of wheelwells like paint etc.

-Engine clean, we have been deliberating this one for over a year, the problem is we do not have a floor drain in the shop, so it becomes an environmental issue until we can do the expansion with a sewage drain.

-Clay bar, I have been looking into this, it sounds like a great add on service to prep the paint for a high end wax. I've been having trouble finding the clay. My supplier for meguiars products tells me the clay is not available? Im finding that hard to believe I may have to source it myself, not even local dept stores in my area carry the clay anymore.

-Paint polishing, Im thinking scratch X the whole car, or find the machine use stuff to powerbuff and de-oxidize the entire surface before applying a high quality wax

-Leather treatment, we already do it, a two part, two step process with professional leather cleaner and conditioner it doesnt get any better.

Can you, Or anyone recommend which product to use for an overall de-oxidization with a powered buffer? Also, what would be the "high" end wax out of the multiple types available from Meguiars? For general use on average cars, not high end show cars.

Re: Looking to design new packages for 2010 season

Using the Dealer Locator, I came up with this:

        Meguiar's Canada
        URL: http://www.meguiarscanada.com
        6175 Danville Road
        Mississauga
        ON
        L5T 2H7
        Greg Morton
        Phone: (800) 278-4559
        Fax: (905) 679-5174
        Email: customerservice@meguiarscanada.com
You might see if they carry clay. As far as buffing and claying are concerned, I would check out these links:

As far as a "high end" wax from Meguiar's, there really isn't one. But M26 or M21 are excellent choices, as is NXT 2.0. I would give one of those a whirl.
