  • More Agressive Product by Hand or use DA?

I used some Scratch X 2.0 recently to remove some minor scratches and to reduce the visibility of some I knew weren't coming all the way out (failed finger nail test).

All the scratches that passed the nail test are severly diminished, but still visible. I did 3-4 applications by hand using a terry towel and worked it in pretty good.

I'm still not satisfied with the minor ones I expect can be removed. I will be getting a 110 before year's end.

What are your thoughts on going with a more agressive product by hand now vs waiting unti I have the DA and trying the SX again wit it?

The hardness of your paint is going to play a huge roll in how easily any defect can be removed. If ScratchX 2.0 isn't quite getting rid of things after a few applications, it is definitely time to step up to something more aggressive. You can safely use Ultimate Compound by hand just as you did ScratchX 2.0 although you might want to reconsider your choice of applicator. Terry cloth can tend to be a bit aggressive and may actually haze the paint at the same time that the liquid is removing the primary defect. A foam wax applicator is your best choice unless and until you acquire a G110v2.

      Thanks, Michael.

If I am understanding you correctly, the next step will be to move up to UC, but change the application method to foam pad by hand or wait until I get my DA?

UC or #105 is still a step up by hand.

Since your going to get a G110 anyways. I would step up to #105. Do a test spot by hand with different applicators. See which one does the job for you.
