I'm trying to find a product to remove some scratches in my '08 Highlander factory wheels. I recently took it in for a tire rotation and balancing and the dealer scratched and scuffed up the wheels. I want to find a product that will be safe to use on the clear coated machined aluminum spokes and painted inserts. Can someone please recommend which product would be best. I'm wondering if I can safely use Ultimate Compound? I'm a little reluctant to use one of the metal wheel polishes on the market, even though some state you can use it on clear coated wheels. Since the wheels are clear coated, would I just treat the scratches the same way I would on a painted portion of the vehicle? Thanks for any assistance!

Re: Scratched Factory Wheels
Do not bother with repairing it yourself for now. Get the dealer to repair or replace the wheels that they scratched. Given that your car is under warranty, there's no reason they would not cover the damages they've created. If they refuse to correct the problem, tell them that you will write a letter with pictures included to Toyota North America. If you attempt to fix the damage, you ruin your chance of them covering the damage.
You may be able to remove the grease marks or scuffs from the plastic roller transferred to your wheel, but actual scratch is hard to remove. Wheel coatings are extremely hard and the damages they are subject to are usually beyond easily repairable.
