  • Some Help....m105 or UC

I'm looking to do correction to my paint with the new g110v2(just bought). I have water etching on my hood and I wanted to know should I be using m105 or Meguiars UC? Which foam cutting pad....Burgandy...Yellow...Orange? I already have UC and if I can get away with using it I will instead of purchasing m105. To follow up I have #7 Glaze and #26 wax. Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

I say use m105 followed up with m205. Then seal it with some Nxt 2.0.....just my 2 cents

Well since you have the Ultimate Compound it would make sense to try a test spot with that first. I recommend using the yellow polishing pad.

That combination might be enough to knock out the swirls in a pass (or a few), and it may or may not leave a surface ready for a glaze and wax. You may need to follow with a medium or light polish and either a yellow or black pad to further refine the surface before sealing it up.

To add a little clarification about M105 and UC, the difference is that M105 is considerably more aggressive... so you should only need that if you can't get the job done with UC alone.

The only way to really know which pad and liquid to use on any car is to, well, use them. UC on a yellow polishing pad may yield a near perfect result on one car, be complete overkill on another, yet not do much of anything to a third. You simply have no way of knowing what combination will return the best result until you start working on the paint.

Since you've already got the UC, give it a shot first. What pads do you have? You mention burgundy, orange and yellow, but the orange one certainly isn't a Meguiar's pad. Assuming the burgundy and yellow are Meguiar's pads, you'll do best to avoid the burgundy on the G110v2 and stick with the yellow pad. Run the tool on speed 5 and use a fair amount of pressure - not enough to stop the pad from rotating, but close. Just take your time, move the tool slowly over the paint, and confine your work area to roughly 2' x 2'. UC will give you a good, long buffing cycle, so take advantage of it.

Do a test spot using the least aggressive product and pad and dial in a system that works successfully to one small area.

Once you dial-in a system that works successfully to one small are then simply duplicate this over the rest of the car or affected panels.

Ultimate Compound, to me, is highy under rated and is shadowed by 105. 105 is great but UC has it's place as well.

I've got some amazing results with an Ultimate Compound/SwirlX combo compared to the 105/205 combo.

I use Ultimate Compound more than I do M105.

I just really like the long play time I get when using Ultimate Compound.
