This is probably a newb question, but... I know that, traditionally, you're supposed to wait up to 90 days to wax fresh paint depending on the temperature at which the paint was cured. My question is does this rule apply to urethane clear coats as well? Also, does the type of wax/sealant being used affect the wait time? For example, does paint need to cure longer before applying a polymer sealant compared to a carnuba wax such as p21s?

Waxing new paint - how long?

Re: Waxing new paint - how long?
The best thing to do is to check with the painter to see exactly what they recommend for that type of paint. The type of product used shouldn't make a difference.
The reason that the paint shouldn't be waxed for that period is that it needs time to out gas the solvents (let them evaporate). If you don't the paint may not cure properly and you could end up with soft spots or other problems.

Re: Waxing new paint - how long?
As others have already said, with any new paint (which also includes clearcoats), it needs to out-gas to cure and folks typically say dont wax or sealer for 90 days. Only exception is factory paint, which can be waxed as soon as you get it since that paint is high-temperature baked in the factory.
If you absolutely need to do something, I am pretty certain you can apply M07 glaze to enhance its "wet-look", but it has zero protection (by design, which is why you can immediately use it) and it will wash right off in the first rain or wash.2010 XRS
