First time here,So I hope I don't ask too many dumb questions.I have a 2005 Sonic Blue Mustang.Always garaged, never seen a drop of rain or bad weather.Recently I have noticed what look's like swirl marks or light scratches on top of hood.I have used NXT spray booster wax, next generation.Lately I have used Liquid Ice polish, because it was given to me to try. What do I need to use to remove swirl and or light scratches on top of hood? Also, what type of wax do you recommend for car? Don't know if car need's to be clayed or not, since it is very well taken care of.All info will be appreciated. Thanks,Clinton in okc,ok.

Re: Need Advice on my 2005 Mustang
First of all, welcome to MOL
As for your questions, there are no dumb querstions on MOL... we all started somewhere, and it is only fair that we respect others when they too get started with this addictive - yet rewarding hobby.
That said, let's start with the first order of business: claying your car. All vehicles, new or old can benefit from clay treatment. I garage my vehicles, wash and wax regularly... and yet I can still notice a difference when I clay the vehicle every 3 or so months.
As for the swirls, it will vary based on severity and hardness of your clearcoat (every car varies, even Mustang to Mustang), but it would likely be a good idea to start with some SwirlX and a foam pad in a small test spot. You want to start with the least aggressive product first so you remove the least amount of paint possible, while still effectively getting the job done.
If the SwirlX isn't able to remove the swirls to your satisfaction on the test spot, you can check back here and we can make some more recommendations as to what to try next (there are many options).
Also, if you could capture pictures to share with us that always helps too.
As for wax, it really comes down to preference, but most users here will tell you NXT 2.0 is your main weapon, followed by the new (and AMAZING) Ultimate Quik Wax for a booster after washing. That combo will do a great job of protecting the paint, hiding some of the swirls and adding Hydrophobic polymer protection to sheet water away.

Yeah, definately clay.
These may help as well, slightly older products than SwirlX, but all the same ideas apply.
