I have a set of wheels with a clear coat on them. They have a poished lip but of course with the clear coat also... I have some scratches around the lip and i am wondering how i can polish out the scratches.. The scratches look like the equivalent to having 1000 grit sand paper on them so its not bad but i have no idea how to properly polish and care for the wheels like they should be. Thanks for the help in advance!!!!!

Pics would help if possible.

You can treat clear coated wheels like clear coated paint, as far as removing swirls and scratches, but of course if they are too damaged, nothing can be done.

Ultimate Compound or #105 Ultra-Cut Compound would be products to try by hand, without getting too big of a project. They would need worked in real well to try and see what improvement you can make.

the wheels are not too damaged i have seen worse be repaired but i want to repair them myself if possible cuz i am a full time college student and cant afford to pay to repair everytime a small bump in the road comes along lol...... thanks for the help... would a mothers powerball work for this or would it be too much for the job? sorry in advance for the mothers question on the meguiars forum lol

Try to get a pic or two if you can, just to see the damage.

I dont know about the Powerball... you will probably need some oomph when working the product in, at least at first, and I dont know if the powerball will give that. You will really need to work the product into the paint.

If you're just working the lip, could use a cotton buffing wheel... have used on headlights as well. Can get all over - Sears, Harbor Freight, most hardware stores.
