  • Problem on my car paint

First, I have to mention that I never use any Meg's product on this two spot.

I just finished my trunk and found this two identical problems, both on left and right side of my almost 10 years old black Honda "C" Pillar

If you are not looking from the "correct" angle, you will not notice the problem

Now, let me introduce you to the right side of the car:

Now, can anybody spot the problem?

Ok, let me zoom for you and give some circle to help you see it..

All of them are not the reflection of any light, it is difficult to spot. Let's move to the left side, it is even worse...

    Seems like OK

But, lets take a closer look

Can anybody tell me, what is going on with my car paint? Can I Fix this problem? Would you like tell me how?

And which one is the correct one, the red dot area or the yellow one?

The left and right side are the same problems. I only can see the spot on the left-side like the right-side picture. All the left-side picture in this posting only can be seen on camera result, if you are looking with your eyes only, the left side is absolutely looking the same like the right side.

I have clay, UC, SwirlX, ScratchX and Yellow foam pad applicator. I will use both of my hands to fix this problem. Of course, GC car wash and NXT 2.0 wax. Hope I can fix this problem by myself and don't need pro help

Thanks a lot, I am looking forward your advice.

Re: Problem on my car paint

My mustang (single stage paint)had the same problem on the driver side behind the 1/4 window but looked alot worse.

Also my ranger truck had single stage paint and it to was in a fender bender I quess and for some reason they applied clear coat over the front left fender-door and extended cab, I know because when I tried removing the splah decal on the left-side it was pretty hard (another post)

So that's why it looks to me to be a touch-up repaint repair job. Is your paint a single stage or clear coat ? Since you have scratchX have you applied it and really work it in maybe 2 or 3 applications, And what was your outcome? If no big improvment go with the ultimate compound and try it out the same way.

On my mustang(single stage I could only improve alittle like your case, only see at an angle) and the truck(clear coat over the single stage) I could improve to where you couldn't see it but after about 3 or 4 months it would slowly start to reappear and then I'd buff it back out.

Maybe someone else will chim in thats in the body/paint shop area and they can be of more help, that's just my experience what I think is the cause and about the only thing you can do.

Hope I've helped and answered your question.

      Hello stang_krazy,

I believe it has a clear coat. I tried with Swirlx and nothing was happened, I also didn't find any black residues on my applicator pad as well as on Microfiber.

I tried SwirlX on my trunk and it worked perfectly. I will try UC next weekend.

      Thanks.

Don't know if you have or can get any M105 over there but if you can try it also.

I have used M105 by hand to remove all them fine swirls and fine scratches that you find under the door handles and remove them with no problems just used about 10 to 15 or so lbs of pressure and a couple applications worked wonders.

What ever you try and do keep us posted on your progress

Re: Problem on my car paint

Was this car ever repainted? What it looks like to me is that the roof or the rear quarter panel has been repainted and what you are seeing is the blend line from the paint.

If that is the case there is no fix besides a repaint.

OMG.. I believe it must be happened about 4 years a go, when I claimed my assurance for some scratches all around my car's body (I never heard about Meg's on those days.. . I wish I could turn back the time and polished my car with Meg's.. )

Any other tricks or tips to confirm your opinion?

Re: Problem on my car paint

You said you tried swirlx and saw no paint transfer on your pad. With that you know it was a base clear repaint. The only way of knowing for sure is using a paint thickness gauge to measure and compare the clear the paint on both sides. Any good body shop could check the paint thickness for your.

Re: Problem on my car paint

                    Another question,

I want to apply pure polish on surface that had been waxed a week ago. Can I apply pure polish directly to the surface or I have to remove the wax first? and how to remove the wax? IPA:water 1:1?

                    Thanks
