  • Waxing for New Car

    I have a new white BMW E60.

Do I need to go waxing/coating soon? Or it is better do it later in order not to harm the coating/painting underneath?

    Thnaks.

    Hi Welcome to MOL

You wont harm the paint its baked on at the factory its all good to go.

But you should clay the car first even if its new.

For the best protection, I would wax the car ASAP.

Will the machine work (polishing) reduce the thickness of the paint?

How often do we need to redo the wax? I park inside.

There are a lot other technology (??) for coating in the market. Any difference?

          Re: Waxing for New Car

You can work by hand if you like.... if you have no swirls, working by hand on a new car is pretty easy and enjoyable.

          1. Wash
          2. Clay
          3. ColorX
          4. Nxt 2.0

But using something gentle like a DA polisher and proper pads/products wont harm the paint thickness.

I have found that the Nxt 2.0, and using UQW after regular washing has lasted several months through the winter.

Definitely take ownership of your paint, sooner, not later. I would follow Murr's outline. To me even with a new vehicle claying is a must.

Depending on the machine, you will actually get more of an even and uniform coat of wax than by applying it by hand.

For a daily driver, Meguiar's recommends washing the car every week and applying wax every 2-3 months.

Waxes and sealants have significantly much more protection and last longer today than they did 10 years ago. Depending on which coating you are talking about, sealants (such as our NXT2.0 or M21) is our longest lasting wax (synthetic sealant). This wax is going to out last any other carnauba waxes due to its technology.

Perhaps for further assistance you ask the forum about the other "coatings" you have heard about.
