  • advice on some scratches

I was wondering if you guys think there is anything I can do on the two scratches shown below. First one is on the hood of my car, very small, looks bigger in the picture than it does in person.

Second one is bigger, its on the passenger side rocker panel, and I"m pretty sure was done by a solid snow drift.

Any thoughts on what I could possibly do to these two scratches by hand to get rid of them, or at least minimize them? Or are they going to be to big to deal with? Thanks,

You'd have to try some Ultimate Compound if working by hand.

The first look like it could be improved.

The second, are they scuffs, dirt transfer, or is the paint actually gone?

looks like the second one is just paint/plastic transfer and can be done away with by use of some acetone

If you can feel the 1st one with your finger nail the best you can hope for is to wet sand and try to hide it. The second try some body solvent.

I would try ScratchX 2.0 first, if that does not work then I would give Ultimate Compound a try.

I would not attempt to do any wetsanding.

so you guys definately figure its worth giving it a shot next time I do my clay/wax in the spring? I'll have to pick up some stuff then, probably starting with ScratchX then UC if that fails.

Hopefully I can at the very least reduce it.

Its worth a shot. I am sure you will at least reduce the defects.

Definitely. I would give it a shot. You do not know what you can accomplish until you try.
                Good luck.

You never know until you try but from what it looks seems like improvement can be accomplish, maybe on some parts not removing it completely but you can achieve making them less noticeable.

I would follow what Nick said, start with ScratchX 2.0 with a foam applicator or even a terry cloth towel and go from there

Good luck and post the results
