13 year Old Olds Ciera.. Is it Clear Coat or Single Stage

How would one go about finding out if the paint on this vehicle is CC or Single stage before one attempts a paint correction? The vehicle belongs to my mother, only my third vehicle to use the PC 7424XP on with polishes that include the newly received Megs 105, and Menzerna Intensive Polish and Final Finish along with LC pads and two Meg's pads, one of which isn't supposed to be used with the PC. The burgundy cutting pads by Meg's.
Any help would be appreciated on the subject. Thanks.

Clean a small section of the paint, take a foam applicator, add some product and rub it on the paint. If the pad turns the color of the paint, it is single stage. If nothing come off (except normal dirt & grime) it is clearcoat.

Another thought: 105 might be overkill for the job. Seems a lot of people are going to 105 without trying lighter compounds (M83, M66, D151, M80). Ultimate Compound is a strong product that can be found on almost any autoparts store.

The technique and products are pretty much the same either way.

yeah, you can use basically any product on any paint, and being its a 97, im 99.9% sure its base/clear, my grandmothers 94 olds cutlass is base/clear

I agree with the Colonel. Do your test spot. That will be the best indicator if you have cc or not.
