  • Difference between Deep Crystal and Gold Class washes?

I have decided to give a Meguiar's wash a try, since I need to get a bottle of car wash liquid. I see Deep Crystal is a few bucks cheaper (than the Gold Class shampoo and conditioner).

I'm not a professional detailer by any stretch of the imagination--I'm just trying to get my cars clean (looking). I'm working on a 98 Civic and an 05 Toyota Sienna. Is the Gold Class product only for a showroom-quality look? I live in the desert, and get a lot of dust, wind, bugs, and occasional rain so I'd rather not pay top dollar just for a product that will make my car look great for a week or so before the next dust cloud I drive through. On the other hand, if it will help out the paint or even make it look better from one wash to the next, it would probably be worth it.

I don't do any real detailing to these vehicles--an occasional wash and every great once in a while, a wax.

    Your thoughts?

Well, both are just soap.... so there is nothing that will 'last'. When the car gets dirty again, it will be dirty. They are not "wash and wax" products.

Gold Class is pretty top of the line though....

Deep Crystal is the base line consumer wash. It does a great job cleaning, but it does not contain the luxurious oils and paint conditioners that safely remove dirt without the wax, it will also wash off easier and give a high gloss shine.

Given this, and some decent reviews I've seen for the Deep Crystal, I think I'll give that product a shot....

Thanks for your help in these threads of mine.

All Meguiars car washes are forumlated not to strip wax.

Deep Crystal is cheap and works great for cleaning wheels and such. I use #62 right now but will try Shampoo Plus pretty soon. Gold Class has the most lubricity out of all the Megs consumer washes.
