  • new truck waxing

I just purchased a 2010 Ridgeline RTL with Nav...Polished Metal Metallic (dark grey).

I want to improve the dealer detailing and maintain a deep shine.

What steps and products should I start with?

I have watched the 3 step videos from Meguiar's.

Hi one4goals. Here is the link to a thread where I had a similar question as yours.

We ask that new members introduce themselves by starting a new thread in this section. Feel free to post a picture of the vehicle(s) you are working on!

I began this morning on my 2010 Edge with the smooth clay bar. Surprising difference. Am now in the process of applying #7 as a polish and will follow with NXT 2.0 as recommended by another forum user.

    Congratulations on the new Ridgeline!

      Re: new truck waxing

For new cars with nothing to fix, I like:

      1. Wash - Gold Class, 2 buckets, grit guards, quality towels, etc.
      2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
      3. ColorX
      4. Wax - Nxt 2.0
2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Sweet ride! I'd love to have a Ridgeline just like that someday.

If it doesn't have any swirls or scratches, I'd probably go wash, clay, NXT 2.0. FYI, I work at a Honda dealership, and I've found that M26 looks absolutely lovely on that color. Gives decent durability as well. Might want to try that instead of NXT.

          Re: new truck waxing

For clarification. Here are my steps so far:

          1. Wash - Gold Class 2 bucket method, quality towels. (I need to order Grit Guards!)
          2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay Kit (This novice would not have thought a new car would benefit, but it made a noticeable difference. Thanks to this forum for advice)
          3. ColorX - I wasn't happy with the depth of color. I called Maguiar's and spoke to Rep. John. He told me ColorX was more of a 'cleaner wax'. Hmmmm. Suggested I try Deep Crystal Polish or #7.
          4. Mirror Glaze #7 - Not able to find Deep Crystal polish in local retailers. I am halfway done with this application.
          5. NXT 2.0
          6. Considering #26 on top of NXT just for kicks as I read elsewhere.
          7. UC to all interior surfaces and exterior molding.

Looks amazing so far. Now wishing for some sunshine to really see what I've done. I am doing all of theses steps in a garage under artificial lights.

Oops. My bad. Step 7 is not UC, sorry. Still learning the names of products.

            7. Ultimate Protectant to all interior smooth surfaces and exterior molding.
