  • Wash or QD?

    Hi,

I have applied UC two days ago to finish my wax job tonight. The thing is that I work in a dusty environment and my truck has dust all over it. Before applying my wax, should I wash it again, or simply use QD to remove the dust?

Also, I have noticed that with dust on the truck, I see a lot of "passes or traces or holograms" of UC. Nothing is apparent when the truck was clean 2 days ago, under direct light. Is this normal?

    Thanks!

Not sure about the dust affect. Maybe it is sticking to some left over residue?

Sounds like you should be washing though.

Definitely wash before waxing. Routine mist & wipe procedures are great for keeping your car looking "just washed" and shiny between proper washings, but the process usually doesn't remove all the dust in areas between body panels, lights, emblems, etc. Running an applicator full of wax over these areas, however, seems to be very effective at picking this stuff up. And spreading it around. Not a good thing. Wash before waxing.

I agree. If it's been a couple of days and you've driven it then wash it. I gave my car an ONR bath after 105 and it didn't even go anywhere, just sat in the garage. I prefer to err on the side of safety. Imagine if you caused swirls with the QD after all of that hard work. That would be frustrating to me at least.

          Give it a wash.

I would use a California Duster to remove the dust.
