  • Black Crossfire Help

    Hey Guys,

I have a black Chrysler Crossfire and it has many swirl marks and very light scratches. When I wash it, it looks clean, but you can still see all kinds of swirls.

I need help in the process and what exactly to use. Here is what I thought.

    1) Wash with mcguires wash

    2) clay kit

    3) swirl x

    4) wax with either GOLD CLASS™ LIQUID WAX or the tech wax...(which is better)

How does this look? is there more I should do?
    Thanks for any help guys

    Your plan looks sound.
However, I take it you will be working by hand?
If so, I would definitely do a test spot with the swirl-x.
You might have to step it up to the Ultimate compound.
Also if you are using a foam applicator, you might want to step it up with a terrycloth applicator. It has a little more bite to it.

    Good luck.

As a fellow Crossfire owner I can tell you the paint on these cars is rock hard. SwirlX is probably not going to cut it (pun not really intended ) for you and we'd recommend stepping up to Ultimate Compound. Correcting these swirls by hand is quite a task as well, but it can be done.

Have a read through this thread, written by a Crossfire owner who had never used a buffer of any kind and was starting with a horribly swirled mess. His results are gorgeous, to say the least. And he used nothing but Meguiar's consumer products - Ultimate Compound, Deep Crystal Polish and NXT Tech Wax 2.0.

Thanks for the tip Mike. I have a 2004 Crossfire to do, for the girlfriend.

You guys must be a lot smaller than me. I'm 6'3" and built like a football player. The first time I got into the Crossfire, I thought I was going have to call the fire department, to come cut me out of the thing awesome cars though.

I'm 6'1" and 200lbs...... I had a Miata prior to the Crossfire and fit fine in both. Not long after acquiring the Crossfire I parked next to a Miata and was stunned at huge the Crossfire looked in comparison!!

You might someday have to go to a G110 DA polisher with M105. The paint is probably similar to Mercedes, and that is what I have to use.

I am 6' and I fit in it perfectly. The thing I love about my crossfire is that it is such a nice car and I can use it as my every day car!
