  • Problems With Spray Mechanisms

Is anyone else experiencing problems with the spray mechanisms on Meguiar's products? In the last week, I've had two spray mechanisms die on two different products. The first one was Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner. The sprayer died altogether...just wouldn't spray the product no matter what. The second one was Ultimate Quik Detailer. The trigger broke right off of the spray nozzle. In both cases the bottles were only half used up.

I love these products, but I've got to tell you...the spray mechanisms are really poor.

Haven't had problem with my bottle of All Wheel Cleaner. I don't care for the sprayers on the bottles of UQD and UQW and the old versions of QID, Supreme Shine, and Natural Shine. I like the sprayers that can be found on the new versions of Supreme Shine, Natural Shine, Odor Eliminator, and QID, as well as the spray products from the Mirror Glaze line (M135, M34, M40, etc.).

No, in fact I save those UQW/UQD bottles when empty, clean them with Dawn and really hot water then reuse them. The only failure I've had so far was on a "chemical resistant" nozzle on Wheel Brightener. I switched to a regular nozzle and have been trouble free ever since.

I think the spray mechanisms are great for UQD but I would rather a not so wide spray pattern for the UQW. Otherwise than that, I have never had a problem with a Meguiars sprayer.

I have had some 'die' from clogged product, esp the spray waxes and UQD. Just needs cleaned out though.

Have had one All Wheel Cleaner die actually.

As far as plastic being brittle, that is from new environmental regulations.

I also save the sprayers when done using the bottle. You never know when that sprayer may come in handy.

Yes, I have had problems with spray bottles. Sometimes the trigger mechanism doesn't work or the tube is clogged. And sometimes there is product left in the bottle but the spray mechanism doesn't pick it up.

Same problem here with spray waxes, if I fail to remove and pump the spray head to clean it out before storage.

Yup.... my problem is with UQD. Last year it worked perfect. Now, this year the spray pattern is not even. It's spray is uneven. I'll probably go to the store and buy another empty spray bottle, and pour the UQD into it.

                    Re: Problems With Spray Mechanisms

My problem is NOT that the nozzles get plugged up. The two I had problems with simply broke. One would not spray...not clogged, just wouldn't work. The other one actually broke. The trigger fractured away from the bottle.

I have a bottle of Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner that stopped working after the first wheel. I pull the trigger and nothing comes out.

Yes, I had 3 bottles with problems wiht UQD. The products would hit the sprayer sides and just not dispense properly. I contacted Meguiars and I got 3 new bottles for free!
