I have a 1985 corvette with stock rims and the clearcoat is comming off. My question is easy what do i need to do and use to get them shinny like chevy intended.. I have heard of power mopping them first with a cutting compund then a polish..

Re: 1985 corvette stock rims
If the clear is coming off, then you probably need to get them stripped and re-painted.
No product will solve clear coat failure, and most coated wheels are not meant to be uncoated.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: 1985 corvette stock rims
Unfortunately, Murr sums it up pretty well. The remaining clear needs to be stripped and then the wheels need to be recoated. In some cases the bare wheel can be polished to a very high shine, but it sort of depends on the finish. Even if you can shine up the bare metal, upkeep then becomes an almost full time job, especially on a regularly used vehicle.Michael Stoops
