    Hi guys,

what is a good light to use in a garage in order to see all the swirls?

I've seen some halogen lights 2x500W. What do you think about this?

    Thanks

Are you talking about permanent or portable. For portable I like the dual halogen on the tripod. They work very well.

      I am talking portable.

Seen halogen on a tripod in nearby shops.

      Is that ok?

The dual halogen on the tripod seem to be the standard. You can get the light just where you need it. They also make for great comparison shots.

They seem to go on sale for 1/2 price often. I'd look for a sale price.

Halogens on tripods work great. Can't go wrong with using them. Make sure to take a look at your test spots in the sun too if it is out.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

            I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
            Remove swirls my friends.

Has anybody had any luck with more energy efficient alternatives? I'd love to find an LED light that works well.

I like the Brinkman dual xenon light for around $30 for general swirl finding. Pep Boys carries them.
