Never use a brush. I would stay away from sponges as well. Microfiber or lambswool wash mitts are your best option.

I use Meguiar's Deep Pile Microfiber Wash Mitt

In the past I have used Mothers lambswool mitts, or SM Arnold mitts. Both were OK, but the wool starts to shed after a couple of months.

Another vote for the Meguiar's microfiber mitt.

Boars hair brushes are relatively expensive, certainly well beyond the cost of an MF mitt ($5) or a lambswool mitt ($10).

Some people swear by them, but I still wouldn't use one over an MF mitt

                    Re: Best brush/sponge for washing

Just used a Meguiars Microfiber mitt today for the first time. I must say, it is so much more enjoyable than a lamswool mitt in it's ability to glide acroos the paint.

Some feature I found to be helpful is the fact that it is not as deep as a lambswool mitt and it is white. As I was washing my moms car today (before an application of Swirlx to the whole car via G110v2) I could tell when my mitt loaded up with dirt just by looking at the mitt. I could clearly see when it was dirty and this allowed me to figure out about how far I could go for each washing section (only about half a panel at a time as it was incredibly dirty).

Definitely superior to a lambswool wash mitt IMHO.

I've been using a Mothers Lambs Wool mitt, and I love the thing.
