How do you clean and maintain glossy black trim? I am assuming it's plastic and very shiny.

I just cleaner/wax and wax it on my car.

Have never tried to correct it before.

I thought putting wax on unpainted plastic was counterproductive?

It is the flat/textured plastic/paint that cant have wax.

Anything smooth/glossy can be waxed, like glossy paint, glossy plastic, metal, etc.

That plastic has clear coat on it. Simply use a standard polish that you would on the paint, then wax them.

I believe it is clear-coated. If it is the same surface I am thinking of, it can be treated like paint. It is certainly not a porous, dull plastic.

Yeah you can see your reflection in it. It's smooth and glass like. Can you clay this surface as well?

I presume you can clay it, but I can recommend the Ultimate Quck Wax .. you'll be amazed, for sure.

                  Yup, can be clayed.

I would treat it the same way as paint.

I just finished up a 328i with this trim. I used 205 on a yellow pad and it turned out great.

                      Just my $.02

                        Great Information!!!

My C Class has this identical black glossy plastic, and it has some swirls!

I suppose I could try a light hand application of UC and see what happens?

I can't believe I never thought to wax it before! Stupid me.

I use M205 of anything above cleaner wax. M205 actually works very well for polishing that type of surface in my experience.

UC might be a little too aggressive - but if you try it by hand with minimal pressure it might be OK.

                            Is 205 similar to swirlX?

                              TJPark01, I like the avatar

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                              I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                              Remove swirls my friends.
