  • Cordless Orbital Buffer

    Hello everyone this is only my second post here so please bear with me. I think I am in the right place.
    My question(s):
    I live in an apartment and can not use electricity so I was looking at the Cordless Buffer what can anyone tell me about this product. Can you get good results from a cordless? If I order what pads should I order? I have a new Honda EX color Ralley Red and have keep this car in good condition.It's garage keep and I use the Meguiars products I have step 1 step 2 and NXT I also use the Meg. car wash. Anyone out there use this cordless buffer? Please post your results the pro's and con's.And I guess anything else you can think of.I appreciate all of your time and Patience in this matter.

    The cordless is good for applying wax, not strong enough for polishing. My advice would be to get the G-100 or equivalent and use a power inverter to run the buffer from your 12v cig lighter outlet. They are sold everywhere, even seen them at Costco.

      Thanks for your reply. I have seen these power inverters at stores.Will they run down your battery? Will I have enough power to run the G from start to finish? Thanks for your time.

        Hi Mr. C, you're in the right place

        Like Buellwinkle stated, the Cordless polisher is only good for applying pure polishes and waxes, it doesn't have enough power to remove defects like swirls, scratches, and things like oxidation.

        Basically, if your finish is new, or in like new condition, then you can use this tool to apply a thin layer of either pure polish, or wax like NXT Tech Wax, Gold Class Wax, #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax, it wouldn't be effective using a cleaner/wax like ColorX on an oxidized finish.

        Getting the real deal, the G-100 Dual Action Polisher will prove to be more effective over the long run if you're serious about maintaining your own car's finish. I would add that last summer I buffed out a Corvette at the Plastic Fantastic Corvette show using a rotary buffer powered by the Corvette I was buffing on through a power converter. I must say I was impressed, as I was compounding the entire front clip with Meguiar's W-7006 foam cutting pad and #84 Compound Power Cleaner.

          With a good battery you probably could, but I don't think you would want to. When we buffed out the front clip of this Corvette we ran the engine periodically to insure we didn't run the batter down to low. That's an option you can consider.
