  • Glue removal

Just removed some stickers from my bike, and there is a lot of glue left on the paint/painted plastic fairings.

Any idea as to how to remove the glue safely without damaging the paint?

    Thanks

    Re: Glue removal

I would use some 3M adhesive remover, then go through the wash / clay / protect process. I've used it on the single-stage paint on my old Benz without any bad effects. I would dampen a good microfiber cloth or pad with the 3M product, then work slowly and gently on the sticker residue until it's removed.

Meguiar's Body Solvent is great for this, too.

Mineral spirits is definitely worth a try. Dab a small amount on a rag and rub gently...follow up with wax.

These are the two products I use.

Goo-Gone actually markets a bottle for auto decals etc. I'm not sure if it's any different than the original formula, but it did cost more.

              Thanks all.

WD-40 is an option for sure.

I need to look for 3M adhesive remover if it's available in Australia.

What ratio of APC'water would be safe for painted surfaces w/clear coat?

APC at 10:1 or 4:1 would be safe, I would not want to let them sit.

Something like the Goo Gone, Bug and Tar, etc may be better if you needed something to sit for a while.

                      It is safe to try....

Depending what there is, clay and a paint cleaner could do it.

This is the type of situation where you may just need to try a few things.
