  • Gold Class Wax on Chrome Wheels?

Hi, I'm a detailing newbie, and I just cleaned my chrome wheels for the first time with Meguiar's Chrome Wheel Cleaner and a soft bristled brush. This worked wonders to get off the grime, brake dust, and loads of other crud that was dulling the shine and finish of the chrome. There's a huge difference in shine and clarity (and I must say I never thought chrome could look this good on a Civic )

Now, my question is whether I should use some Meguiar's Gold Class Liquid Wax that I have on hand to wax the wheels. I have heard some people say to wax and others say it doesn't make any difference. These wheels do still have a lot of imperfections, most notably the extreme pitting on the centercaps, so I'm not too worried about trying to keep them perfect, but I wouldn't mind throwing some wax on if it's a good idea.

If you have any NXT, try using that, it should stand up to the heat generated by your brakes better. Go ahead and wax half of your wheel, and see if one half gets dirtier than the other. From that point, you can decide whether or not it is even worth it for you to wax your wheels.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.
