  • Quick 5 Step Rundown

Doing the 5 step with a few quick questions.

Ordered my DA and I am planning my paint correction and etc I just need some confirmation(s) of my thoughts.

    1. Gold Class Car Wash
    2. Clay
    2. UC & 105 (if necessary). Would 105 still be considered a cleaner?
    3. Would 205 be considered a polish?
    4. I got my wax.
    5. Maintain the shine.

So does this sound like a good plan?

What are you working on? How bad, etc?

The most DA friendly products would be:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Clean - UC for bad defects. #205 for mild defects, regular cleaning.
    4. Polish - Optional - DC2 or #7
    5. Wax
    6. Wax
    7. Maintain

      Re: Quick 5 Step Rundown

I'm getting my wife involved with detailing, so my new 5-step plan is:

      1. unwind the hose
      2. unfold the lawn chair
      3. crack open a beer
      4. spray on some SPF
      5. Chips, cannot forget the chips

        Jerry, Welcome!

Washing should be part of regular automotive maintenance and is considered the first step to detailing.

Claying is the next preliminary step in order to determine the actual finish condition dictating what comes next.

M105 is considered to be a compound and is aggressive. If I'm not sure I like to work from least to most aggressive not wanting to remove more finish than I need to.

M205 is not only a polish it basically sets the standard to which most others are compared to. M205 is simply great, it's where I start to determine direction and when used leaves the finish surface glass like.

Wax can certainly be the next step to give a protective coating and to make the finish shine.

Maintaining a finish requires a regimented washing and waxing in order to keep it shining and fresh looking.

There are more products available to maintain your cars finish. Meguiar's has been in this business and some of the finest products available. Educate yourself by doing some reading and especially comments on this forum.

            Gracias guys.

I went to a Thursday night and got the rundown on 105 and UC and plus Mike helped me learn the G110. And my Altima looked beautiful afterward. Im gonna work with UC first before 105 anyway. I have a couple defects that need some more UC before I try the 105. I just wanted to clarify if it all sounded good

Definitely. M105 is the most aggressive liquid we make. It should not be anyone's starting point!!!

Jerry, the UC seemed to do an outstanding job on your Nissan, and M205 is a fantastic follow up product that should have the finish looking its best before applying your wax.
