First of all,
I would like to give a big thanks to all who answered my questions... and to all members here...
The how-to threads are very helpful.
Here is a 2 day run down for my first DA detail.
Subject:
1993 VW Polo (RED)
Tools I have:
Dodo juice Buff daddy
1x 5.5inch Chemicalguys orange medium cutting pad
1x 5.5inch Chemicalguys white polishing pad
1x 5.5inch Chemicalguys blacking finishing pad
1x 4inch LakeCountry orange medium cutting pad
1x 4inch LakeCountry white polishing pad
1x 4inch LakeCountry blacking finishing pad
smooth surface clay bar kit
cleaner wax from smooth surface clay kit
UC
swirlX
Day 1:
wash with 2 buckets with grit guards
clay when its wet with smooth surface kit from top.
rinse and dry panel after clay.
if I have time I would start polishing.
if required, i would do swirlX on head-light and tail-light as well.
Day 2:
situation 1
if it is after clay.
I would use UQD to clean each section before I polish.
start with UC with medium cutting pad, test spot from lighter to higher pressure. (I only have 1 pad)
if required, I would do swirlX with polishing pad
and the follow with cleaner wax
why not with cleaner wax from smooth surface clay kit with finishing pad
and then gold class wax.
situation 2
if it is after polish.
I would use UQD to clean the polished area.
and the follow with cleaner wax
with cleaner wax from smooth surface clay kit with finishing pad
and then gold class wax.
Day 3
clean with UQD,
then second coat of GC wax.
Please give me comments on the process above.
as this is my test subject, I do have 3 more cars to line up for the weekend.
they are all my family's car, so it will all be at my own risks.
Still I want the best of it...
here are the cars, and please if you have time, please give me your opinions... i think i would do the same process with the rest of the car.
subject number 2:
2004 black Skoda Octavia.
subject number 3:
1999 black BMW 316i
subject number 4:
1999 silver VW Passat TDI
I do the silver last, because it is a more difficult color.
but on the other hand, swirls are more difficult to spot.
so if ya'll think subjust number 4 should place before others, please say so.
for all who are going to help.
I just want the best for the car and make them have the shine that they should have. so that they can be a proud car driving down the road
will check in here often and ask more questions based on reply.
thanks again
Steve
